Yoga

In the same way that I can’t live without design, I can’t live without yoga.

I have a (healthy) obsession with practicing yoga every day. During grad school, that’s not reasonable… but in my real life, it most certainly is the norm. Because of this (healthy) obsession, I am Yoga Alliance Certified to teach. I have been teaching since April of 2009 and hope that it will be a lifelong endeavor.

My Teaching Bio

My first yoga class was with Carmen Board in 2003 in Baton Rouge, La. Then, I had no idea the yoga journey that I would eventually embark on; a journey I wouldn’t begin for another five years. When I started training for a marathon in 2008, I decided to get back into yoga to decrease my running pains… and it did so much more than that. I obtained my 200-hour Yoga Alliance certification with Tamal Yoga School in Los Angeles, Ca in April of 2009. I have practiced vinyasa and ashtanga yoga primarily in Southern California, Baton Rouge, La, and Pittsburgh, PA. I’ve been inspired by Vinnie Marino, Kino MacGregor, Andrew Linton, and many other wonderful teachers.

I teach a strong ashtanga-inspired vinyasa flow class that focuses on movement through Ujjayi breathing. I believe in an energetic practice that lifts up the body and allows the mind to focus inward. I also like to experiment with music and silence and their affect on achieving pratyahara; therefore, I often take an eclectic mix of yoga music, rock music, indie music, and eastern music to design a challenging, fun, and meditative practice.
